HOLY CRAP. Confirmed by
George R. R. Martin, Danish actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (New Amsterdam, Black Hawk Down) will play
Jaime Lannister in HBO's series Game of Thrones. The other new additions are Alfie Allen (Atonement) as Theon Greyjoy; Tamzin Merchant (The Tudors, Pride and Prejudice) as princess-in-exile Daenerys; Iain Glen (Into the Storm, Lara Croft) as Ser Jorah Mormont, a disgraced knight; Richard Madden (Hope Springs) as Robb Stark; Sophie Turner as Sansa Stark; and Maisie Williams as Arya Stark.
They join an ensemble already featuring Sean Bean, Jennifer Ehle, Harry Lloyd, Peter Dinklage, Jack Gleeson and Kit Harrington. I'll always remember Coster-Waldau as the guy that Paul Bettany described as "too good-looking to live" in the Wimbledon DVD commentary. Is the epithet deserved? I say he called it as he saw it. (
