Great-looking trailer for Michael Mann's Public Enemies, starring Johnny Depp, Christian Bale, Marion Cotillard, Billy Crudup, Channing Tatum, David Wenham, Emile de Ravin, Leelee Sobieski, Giovanni Ribisi, and Stephen Dorff. Mann teams up with Dante Spinotti (Heat's cinematographer), and they seem to have given this 1930s era piece a look unlike any film about this period that I've seen. Can a camera angle be described as anachronistic? And how do anachronisms get to be so good? [imdb]

Ginnifer Goodwin, John Corbett and Bridget Moynahan have joined the cast of Ramona and Beezus, a film based on the classic children's books by Beverly Cleary. I loved the Ramona series in junior school, and used to listen to the books on audiotape. (THR)

Indira Varma (Rome) has landed the lead role in ABC's drama pilot Inside the Box. Set at a Washington network news bureau, the show revolves around Catherine (Varma), an ambitious news producer, and her colleagues, who pursue the story at all costs, juggling personal animosities and crises of conscience along with the daily deadlines of a nightly news show. Fans of Generation Kill, you should really go and see Kathryn Bigelow's film about a bomb disposal unit in Iraq, The Hurt Locker. A. O. Scott describes it as "less a combat picture than a thriller about the risks and intoxications of professional passion."
