Trailer for Paul McGuigan's (Gangster No. 1) sci-fi espionage thriller Push, starring Chris Evans, Dakota Fanning, Camilla Belle, and Djimon Hounsou. Looks like The Bourne Identity with paranormal powers (the film is set in Hong Kong), and the trailer's pretty cool - but then, I said the same thing about Jumper. McGuigan gave some details about the film earlier in the year at comic-con. [imdb]

Taylor Hackford (Ray) will direct Merchant of Shanghai, an English-language biopic about Silas Hardoon, the opium dealer and property magnate who transformed Shanghai in the 19th century. (Coming Soon)

Eva Green and Ryan Phillippe at the London premiere of their film Franklyn, which also stars Sam Riley and Bernard Hill. I've been excited about this sci-fi neo-noir for quite a while, mostly because of the cast. Here's how the London Film Festival program describes it:
'Refreshingly ambitious for a debut British feature, Franklyn is an urban fairytale which successfully marries inventive storytelling with a keen visual sense. Set between contemporary London, and the futuristic religion-dominated Meanwhile City, the film traces the fates of four characters: Jonathan Preest (Ryan Phillippe), an atheist vigilante who has vowed revenge on Meanwhile City’s leader; Emilia (Eva Green), a privileged young artist whose difficult relationship with her mother fuels her cynicism and depression; Milo (Sam Riley), a sensitive young man whose heart has been recently broken; and Peter (Bernard Hill), a deeply religious man who has come to London in search of his missing son, a troubled Gulf War veteran.

'Deftly moving the narrative between the worlds of the ‘real’ and the ‘imaginary’ allows writer-director Gerald McMorrow full reign to explore the relationship between love, fantasy and faith. The latest in a long history of director-led films from notable producer Jeremy Thomas, Franklyn is also very much a London film, making bold, original use of its metropolitan locations.'
The trailer for Franklyn has just been released. [imdb]

Brad Pitt and George Miller (Happy Feet) are teaming up to produce a film based on Homer's The Odyssey, re-envisioned as a futuristic space adventure. (Coming Soon)

Fox has picked up the back nine episodes of The Sarah Connor Chronicles. YAY!
