Anybody know what Paris-Istanbul-Shanghai sounds like? I have to admit to being curious, if for no other reason than that the group's name is made up of my three dream cities.

Teaser trailer for Edward Zwick's WW2 drama Defiance, which revolves around Jewish brothers (Daniel Craig, Liev Schreiber and Jamie Bell) living in Nazi-occupied Poland who escape into the Belarussian forest where they join Russian resistance fighters in battling the Nazis. Throughout the war, they build a village inside the forest and save the lives of more than 1,200 Jews. Zwick's screenplay is based on Nechama Tec's book "Defiance: The Bielski Partisans."

The cast also features Mia Wasikowska (In Treatment), Alexa Davalos (The Chronicles of Riddick), Jodhi May (The Last of the Mohicans), Mark Feuerstein (Good Morning, Miami), and Iddo Goldberg (Secret Diary of a Call Girl). There sounds like to be some god awful accents there, but doesn't Mia look pretty? [imdb]

Artist Sam Taylor-Wood (whose "Crying Men" series you might have seen) will direct a John Lennon biopic, Nowhere Boy, with a script to be written by Control's Matt Greenhalgh. It will be about "Lennon as a lonely teenager growing up as his aunt and the mother who gave him up fight for his love. His only escape is music, art and his fateful friendship with Paul McCartney."
Taylor-Wood is rumoured to be pursuing Kate Winslet for the role of Lennon's mother. (Guardian, THR)

Description of the 20 minutes of footage shown in Telluride from David Fincher's The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, starring Brad Pitt, Tilda Swinton and Cate Blanchett. Contains spoilers, obviously. [imdb]

Trailer and Simon Pegg's video diary from the set of his film How To Lose Friends and Alienate People, also starring Kirsten Dunst, Gillian Anderson, Jeff Bridges, Danny Huston, and Megan Fox. Directed by Robert B. Weide (Curb Your Enthusiasm). [imdb]

Sam Wollaston interviews Keira Knightley about her film The Duchess at The Guardian. [imdb]

Geoff Manaugh's fascinating article on tactical landscaping and terrain deformation, in video games and architecture. Also, since I just watched a rather good recent episode of No Reservation that took Tony Bourdain to Egypt, I thought I'd also link to Manaugh's piece about urban noise in Cairo. (BLDGBLOG)
