Drabble: Golden (Heroes; Angela)

Written for orange_crushed who (long, long ago, in the Cretaceous Era) requested either Angela Petrelli or Irina Derevko, and gave me this painting by Edward Hopper as a prompt. Reference to an unspecific mental ability is completely speculative.

Angela, pre-series. G. She made her choice.

No one can touch you, or say what you must do. Who you must give up.

I'm a lucky, lucky woman. :D

Your writing is so perfectly balanced- this a fragile moment for her, a moment of change; but her resolve is absolute steel. It's a start and an end. It's clearly Angela but it's also, more broadly, a story of loss and continuation and strength that belongs to other women, other times. What a wonderful moment.

And well worth any wait. You're a darling, you must know it.

Thank you for giving me such a brilliant prompt! Trust you. :) It's so enigmatic, triggering so many questions. I ended up lifting lots of elements straight from it. The feeling that it could be any woman in a similar position was taken from the painting.

I'm so happy that you liked it. :)

Very cool. Very Angela. Very evocative of the mood of the painting.

I looove Angela, but I'm usually a little reticent to write her because we don't know yet what her power is, and I hate having to invent and then be totally off the mark.

I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for the comment. :)

Good glory, this is awesome. A perfect picture of Angela- not just as an individual, but as a history of women, of heroes, of people who remained strong though it made them look cold or hard. There isn't enough good Angela fiction out there, and this is brilliant. Cheers.

Wow. That's awesome feedback, thank you.

Here's to hoping we'll see more of her (or some of young Angela) in season 3. :)
