Geoff Davies' "Economia: New economic systems to empower people and support the living world" is a book that incorporates so many of my intellectual interests (economics, science, sociology, systems theory, anthropology, etc.), and has a vision that almost makes me shrug off my overwhelming cynicism and deep depression about the future - until I realise that practically nobody has read it, and that it's only published in Australia. *sigh*

Behold: Esai Morales (Jericho, NYPD Blue). Who will play Joseph Adams, father of William Adama, in Caprica, the prequel to Battlestar Galactica. Does he look perfect or what? *glee* This follows after the announcement yesterday that Paula Malcolmson (Deadwood) would play the female lead. (THR) [imdb]

Eva Mendes, Josh Hartnett and Ben Kingsley will star in a film adaptation of Arturo Perez-Reverte's novel Queen of the South, about a rise of beautiful female druglord. (THR) [imdb]

Ellen Page (Juno) is set to play the eponymous heroine of Jane Eyre in a new film developed by BBC Films, based on Charlotte Bronte's classic novel. The last film version of the book was the 1996 Franco Zeffirelli version starring Charlotte Gainsbourg and William Hurt. (THR)

A new vodcast for Baz Luhrmann's Australia is up, this time focusing on the film's production design by Oscar winner Catherine Martin. [imdb]

Photoshelter looks at Australian photographer Bill Henson's Paris Opera series. I saw these photos while the Henson retrospective was showing in Sydney a few years ago, and they are gorgeous. (via)
