Dude, I feel like this movie was made five years ago now and I don't understand why it's taken so long for them to release it outside of Italy (which, btw, ??!?).
But thanks for the lovely picspam. There's a few here I've never seen. I love the combo of Romola Garai and Bryce DH; they have a similar quality to them. And SIGH, Adrian Lester is dreamy. Have you seen that UK show, Ghost Squad? He guested in the final ep of the series, and he was v. v. good indeed.
(BTW, is that Maecenas from Rome? I never really thought about it -- and I'm usually good at this -- but is he Eurasian? Or is the costume making me see things?)
The guy from Robin Hood pretty much plays the same character (same smirky shrug and everything). He's not in it a lot -- or, the focus really is on Elaine Cassidy and her character, who is great.
The show is really good as a total package. Since they're undercover on a different case every week, they introduce us to new characters each time, and I feel like the show really shows its strength in how it does sharp character studies of all these people. It's like Law & Order but with brains, and a bit of that LFN/Spooks tension.
(I thought he was Mediterranean-or-somethin' too until those pictures from ASYLI. His RADA cv says he's got a black belt in karate. Which... really tells us nothing, but I enjoy playing guess-the-ethnic-makeup.) ;)
Hi, I got here through obasc (used the Adrian Lester tag, because he's absolutely marvelous). I recently bought the DVD of Kenneth Branagh's adaption of Love's Labour's Lost and truly think it's one of the best films I've ever seen (Adrian is such a fantastic dancer!). Never had I imagined that American Songbook songs and Shakespeare would go that well together. Has "As You Like It" been turned into a musical too (since it's also directed by Kenneth Branagh) or is it just the proper play in a new setting? I'm thinking of buying this DVD as well.
I loved Adrian and Alessandro Nivola in Love's Labours Lost. Didn't think much of Alicia Silverstone though. She sounded like she was channeling Cher from Clueless still.
Kenneth Branagh's known for his film adaptations of Shakespeare (he's also done Hamlet, Much Ado About Nothing, and the Oscar winning Henry V), but as far as I know, LLL is the only one that's a musical.

(It is Maecenas, and I think he might be part-Asian. But probably not the Far East...but Mediterranean? He played Lebanese in The Line of Beauty.)

I didn't think Alicia was elegant enough for the role. I did like her in the tent scene, but thought she didn't really fit in for the rest.
Out of the girls, I thought Natascha McElhone gave the best performance. Carmen Ejogo was good too.
Thanks for answering my question!
