300, the adaptation of Frank Miller's graphic novel about the 300 Spartans who fought to death against the Persian army, has a powerful promo trailer. Gerald Butler, who plays King Leonidas, certainly cuts a much more believeable historical figure than, say, Clive Owen did in King Arthur. The mostly British cast also stars Lena Headey, Vincent Regan, David Wenham, Michael Fassbender (of Hex!), and Dominic West (of The Wire!). A potential vehicle for Johnny Depp, Rex Mundi is an adaptation by Jim Uhls (Fight Club) of the graphic novel series by Arvid Nelson and Eric Johnson. Set in an alternate present of 1933 Paris, in which the Reformation never occurred and the Catholic Church holds power over Europe and its colonies, Depp would play Julien Saunière, a pathologist investigating the mysterious death of the priest who found him as an orphan. "It's a noir-ish Raiders of the Lost Ark," Uhls said. "There are murders and a mystery, and the lead character discovers a massive conspiracy, biblical in its origin."
