TRAILERTRAILER in Quicktime for CHILDREN OF MEN from Alfonso Cuarón!!! God, it's painfully beautiful. What's so frightening and effective is that it look so real. Clive Owen so dishevelled and sad-eyed, and London-in-the-near-future still completely recogniseable, but with some odd touches, like the rickshaws on the streets. It's not a Spielberg science fiction film, where the machines are shiny and new; everything in Children of Men has a worn look to it, from people's hands and fingernails to the walls and the roads. The attention to detail is amazing. So when the violence break out, it's like watching a documentary. The cinematographer for this was Emmanuel Lubezki, who shot Terrence Malick's The New World, as well as several other Cuarón films. [imdb]
