I'VE SEEN DEAD MAN'S CHEST!
AND IT WAS FANTASTIC!!!
Norrington's entrance, truly, was better than Sparrow's. He also, not surprisingly, proves himself clever than everybody else. Including Elizabeth, who is a bitch. (Duh.) But we love her, because Jack is kind of a selfish bastard, too; what I've always loved about the films is that they're so alike.
Going to see it again tomorrow. This time with
Dae. And now that I know to stay until after the credits, I WILL.
YAY!!

My new
Children of Dune icon by
dgtall. I rented the series, which I haven't watched in over a year. GOD. Had nearly forgotten how intense the CSI was. James McAvoy and Jessica Brooks just had incredible chemistry. Watching them together was like a painful overwhelming of PRETTY. (It's been a long time since I've read the novel, but somebody remind me: Leto marries Ghanima in the end, doesn't he?)
P.H. Moriaty, who played Gurney, was every bit as terrible as I remembered, though.

Trailers:
The first online
trailer for The Illusionist, starring Edward Norton as a turn-of-the-century magician (the Count of Cagliostro kind), is vaguely disappointing. Or maybe I just had too high expectations. I mean, c'mon. Jessica Biel is in this thing - and playing a European duchess, no less. I should have realised it wasn't going to be realistic. Sure is awfully pretty though. Plus: Rufus! The film premiered at
Sundance last year. [

I gotta admit, I've had
James Marsden's name in my mind ever since I saw him playing the sociopathic Luka who hit on his own mother (played by Nastassja Kinski) in the very silly, but fondly remembered
Bella Mafia miniseries. It's just a shame that the most well known of the roles he's played in the last, oh, decade have been "the other guy" roles. Not so unlucky as Rufus Sewell, who's had way too many opportunities to perfect his possessive and murderously jealous act (see The Illusionist just above), but they both deserve much better. Now Marsden is the lead actor in 10th and Wolf, a crime drama "inspired" by the real "Donnie Brasco" which is written and directed by David Moresco (Crash). It also stars Giovanni Ribisi (another actor whose name always piques my interest), Brad Renfro (good to see he hasn't crashed and burned like Macaulay Culkin), Dennis Hopper and Brian Dennehy. The trailer is now up at the
official site. [

The UK trailer for Harsh Times, starring an awesome Christian Bale in full on crazy mode, has been added on
YouTube. (I see award nominations coming Bale's way, a la Denzel Washington for his role in Training Day, which is by the same writer.)

Misc.:
Eric Bana is sexiest when playing bad boys. Or, in this case, a professional poker player.
Stills from Lucky You at Just Jared. The movie is directed by Curtis Hanson (L.A. Confidential) - so, you know, should be good. [

We have a
destination for Pirates of the Caribbean: World's End. We've certainly heard Jack mention it enough times... (Coming Soon) [
