I have new CLOTHES.
Colourful
Morgan de Toi tops the folks came home bearing, and shirts from
Veronika Maine that I bought today. Still haven't found a formal jacket/coat that I really like yet, though, and I'm going out again tomorrow to look for the ONE. Must be the right balance of classic and youthful, in a shade other than black/navy. Mother and I used to love
Alannah Hill coats - so colourful and well-cut - maybe I'll swing by the Paddington store. I'm sort of in love with herringbone at the moment, so will have my eye out for that. Also, have to buy YSL Pour Homme for the father (his birthday on Wednesday), and stop at uni to make an enrolment change for next semester. I'm dropping "Elementary Logic" and picking up
"Sustainability, System and Society", which seems to suit my current interests better.

What did I say about Superman Returns? That it was going to be
King Kong all over again. Devin at CHUD gives Dead Man's Chest 8.6/10: "Someone described Gore Verbinski to me as Terry Gilliam with commercial sensibilities; The Weather Man aside, I can see that." He also gives a well written opinion on the glaringly absent patriotism in Bryan Singer's Superman Returns:
"What Singer missed out on was the opportunity to reclaim the American flag. There’s a trend in leftie politics to reject any nationalism, and I think that’s pointless. Rejecting jingoism is one thing - let’s not get into a pissing match about whose nation is better, unless you’re from Mexico, in which case we win. But nationalism should be about loving where you’re from, not being blindly devoted to it."
Gary Westfahl at Locus:
"One can even describe [Superman Returns] as more seamless and thoughtful than its predecessors, inasmuch as director Bryan Singer and writers Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris, amidst all the inevitable thrills, also artfully contrive to offer some stimulating insights regarding why this durable superhero keeps coming back - and why he keeps leaving."
