Yeah, so...

Does anyone know what kind of gift is proper to get people who's house has caught fire? Anyone who's house has been on fire or who knows people who's house has been on fire that can tell me what kind of thing is welcome from strangers? Because the family across the street's house is on fire, and I sort of want to get them some form of sympathy gift, as this situation must suck for them... but I do not know what the ettiquette is for this sort of thing. I'm tempted to cook something and leave it for them, but I do not know how welcome food from strange emaciated girls is, or if the whole idea is just spawned from my mentality that food heals all wounds. D : I know it's a weird question, but anybody?

On the positive sde, things seem to be going well. There are currently 9 vehicals posessing flashing lights that have rolled in, containing no less that 3 fire trucks, 2 ambulances, 2 squad cars, and other miscelaneous vehicals that I can not identify as it is too bloody early in the morning. The family all got out, with pets. Things seem leisurely. Definately more response than was required, which is good I think. Reassuring should some horrible kitchen progect/electrical mishap/ heat gun abuse cause my own house to burst into flame;. Not that this house has burst into flame. There was a fair bit on the second story, but it seems quite controlled now.

Mostly the light flashing cars and I are playing a waiting game. They're right outside my window, and they have runbly, hissy engines, all of which is preventing sleep. So I'm pretty much sitting around, tired as hell, and wondering about what I should get the family, waiing for the fire brigade to conclude that they did indeed put out the firem and theym and their flashey lights can go home. But again, very nice to know that such a huge response happened to a single fire, nd quite quickly as well. Horray for wealthy sorts of neighborhoods. Horray for safe families and saved pets. Horray for houses that are not reduced to charcoal. Boo for 3 AM.
