Well, I ranted this one twice in the past week, so it's rant enough to get an lj post.
What the fuck is everyone's problem with Barbie dolls?
I am so sick of fluff brained feminists proclaiming "I'm against barbie dolls because they make girls live up to an impossible body type standard" or other such crap about how she's setting back the confidence of little girls and making women seem lite little maniplable playthings or that girls should all have an interest in clothing or blauuugh!
Fuck you. Barbie dolls are one of the major contributing factors to the feminist movement. Before their creation the only human resembling toy marketed to little girls were baby dolls. Babies babies and more babies. Little girls were given babies to play with which reinforced that it was the femal's place to take care of the children and the home. There was a father who had a daughter (named Barbie as luck would have it) who's child was sick of playing with chubie cheecked plastic creatures who pissed water into their diapers. So he made her a teenager doll. She had less pointy feet, and smaller boobies, and a thicker waist, yes. But she was still made to a standard of beauty. There is a reason that Quasimodo dolls just don't go over big on the market. So shut up you empty headed feminazis. You should be damn greatful to barbie. Now it's little pop singers or sunbather or doctor dolls that rule the market, and babydolls are stuck with those horrible pastel commecials run off a low budget that do nothing more than iritate.
