o1. The Great Asheville Adventure
Sooooo... two weekends ago Jordan, Emily, Yao and I drove out to Asheville. We started super early, so the first thing we had to do was stop for breakfast for everyone but me because I ate at home. Then we drove for a long time. There are a lot of fucking trees in North Carolina. We stopped at a McDonald's for coffee and Emily bought sketchy chapstick at a sketchy gas station. Because the south is totally sketchy.
At some point during the drive out this woman in the car next to us turned to stare at us. Like. Hardcore turning in her seat to look backwards at us. We couldn't decide if it was because Jordan has University of Alabama stickers on her car or if it was because Yao and I were Asian.
Started in the historic shopping area, wandering around (Emily bought yarn and Yao bought some bread mix), then ended up at a Mexican restaurant for lunch~ And an entire pitcher of white Sangria. I cannot imagine drinking Sangria like water. Ugh. I think I'd die first. There was a little boy in the restaurant and he was our best friend. I love small children sob.
Then we drove up part of the road that leads to the Biltmore manor, but you can't get very close at all. ): So we turned around, got lost, and then eventually ended up at the Grove Park Inn. We made our way out onto the patios to look out over the valley and take pictures. It's really gorgeous up there; I wish I had the energy to post pictures but I'm falling asleep at my computer as it is.
We ended the evening in downtown Asheville wandering around the shops. I bought some beads, we saw an awesome humor store, I almost bought prayer beads, we got lost in a bookstore, and I found the cutest pink flats in a sex store. Instead of having a vegetarian dinner, we started driving back to Durham and stopped at a McDonald's on the way back. omg hamburgers.
It was after midnight by the time I got back ♥
o2. Alex came to visit
So last week we had this fantastic tropical storm come through. With tons of rain and wind. Thursday night I drove out to the airport to pick Alex up, then we came back and watched John Stewart and Stephen Colbert. Then we stayed up watching... Mushishi, I think. And eventually I passed out because, well, I was tired.
Friday we ran errands all day. I had to take Emily to the airport, so we did that (and we saw Professor Rojas lol), then picked up heeled boots for me at the Nine West outlet. Then we drove out to Cary, where we got vegetables and other random things like bao and cake at the market. We had lunch at a Szechuan place, then stopped at the Japanese market for sake, kamaboko, and udon bowls. Then we dropped off the groceries and went to the student store, where I discovered that even the small size has shoulders wider than mine are. Thanks, mommy, for always complaining about my wide shoulders. The last thing we did was go to the Kroeger so I could pick up... stuff. Then we sat and watched Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, more Mushishi, and then White Collar. We also watched Community, The Office, and 30 Rock online because we'd missed them the night before. We were up until almost 4 in the morning, I think, watching TV and playing cards and having philosophical discussions.
And then Saturday morning I drove Alex back to the airport. Saturday afternoon Yao and I went shopping. Now I have sweaters and a pair of brown pumps and cheap jewelry.
Sunday I went to Emily's with Jordan to check on her cats.
Tuesday I picked Emily up from the airport.
o3. Owww my head hurts
Quiet don't judge me just be impressed that I'm doing it at all.
I have an internet exercise on surrogacy or the selling of body parts on Monday. My final posting for vampires is due this coming week. I have a final paper for Sex and Money and no topic. I have to come up with readings for Monday. I have a final paper and no topic for vampires. I have an 18-20 page research paper for EACS which I've started but quite frankly is going to eat me alive.
Also Wednesday I slept for almost 15 hours. I'm mildly worried.
I Am Legend is so far a really good book.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was entertaining but needed more robots ):
THE END
