34) HOMEWORK
Seriously. I hate the notion of homework. Work you do at home. I am just tired right now of work following me everywhere. I can't do anything or go anywhere without work following me. Even when I go to sleep there are things I should or could be doing, that need to be done, sometime before I go to class. This is why I more and more hope that I get a fantastic fellowship or job, so that just for a little while I can work 9-5 and then go home. To nothing. To dinner, and the internet, and television, and video games, and lying in bed talking to someone without being interrupted by homework.
Spent the weekend up north. Went up Wednesday night for the Gov team competition, which was Thursday and Friday. Unfortunately, I missed about half the competition on Thursday because I was trying to finish my booklist summaries. See what I mean about homework? I don't think it helps that I constantly feel like I'm about to die/explode/collapse, and this is after I've stopped doing reading and cut back on work hours (a lot).
I am very proud of my brother and his unit. They weren't perfect, but that's okay. They tried really hard, they worked really hard, and they did their best. ♥
Friday after the competition my family drove me to the train station, and I took Amtrak down to Berkeley. Ed picked me up at the station and took me back to his apartment, since Ivan, Jeff, Jeff, and Daniel were all out. Hahaha, I sat and watched Ed and his roommate play computer games. We ran into Nick outside of Ed's apartment, so he came along :D Then we all went to dinner at this Japanese restaurant after Ivan got out of his lab meeting. I'll have to go visit again so I can see the Ivan-Jeffs apartment, which is apparently a lot cleaner and nicer than Ed's.
Later that night (like, after I'd fallen asleep waiting later) Nick took me to the BART station, and I went down to Fremont. Charles brought me my own entourage: J, April, and Frank! We went back to the apartment, where they all proceeded to play Rock Band while I slowly passed out on the couch.
Late the next morning we all woke up, after Charles brought Cliff back to the apartment from BART. Everyone but April went out to an Asian buffet for brunch/lunch, and Jameson met us at the apartment afterward. Charles and I went to pick up Viv from the BART station, but she was still in San Francisco, so we went to the library so I could check out Ice Haven and read it. I won't have a copy for class, but at least I read it.
And then we - seriously - played Rock Band for like, ever. At some point we did get up to pick up Viv, but then we went right back to playing. Cliff had to leave for a dinner date, so we ALL took him to BART and then went to Safeway to grocery shop. Vincent was waiting at the apartment when we got back from the market. We cooked dinner together (we meaning everyone but Charles) - chicken tacos and guacamole, yay! It was super delicious :D And so much fun! Viv and I WIN.
Can you guess what we did after dinner?! Drink and play Rock Band! (Like, seriously. It was many hours of this.) At some point April and Vincent and I went out to buy root beer, ice cream, and amaretto to make spiked root beer floats - even Jameson admits that this was a fantastic idea.
April and Frank were drunk, I'd just had some to drink, but... yeah. We bribed Charles into singing. April, Frank, Vincent and I all at some point during the lengthy process offered to take off our shirts. Then, when we wanted Jameson to stay late(r), April offered to double it. I'm not sure how that was supposed to work, but as Frank pointed out, "You are wearing pants..."
Even though J and I were still pretty awake, Frank and April were not, so everyone pretty much calmed down and was sleeping by 2. Except for April and Frank, who don't really know when they went to sleep.
J and I were up early this morning; we woke up Vincent and Charles around 9, and April woke up shortly thereafter. We went into San Francisco on BART to meet Viv, April and I hungry the whole time. We had lunch at a Japanese restaurant, then walked through the botanical gardens to the de Young, where it was free because we all are BofA customers! So we wandered through some art, visited the observation deck, and saw the Turrell skyspace. April likes the de Young's better; I like Pomona's.
After the museum we walked some more through the park, then went to Clement/New Chinatown for food. :3 And books! There was much snacking, and I also bought some Asian pears, which are sitting in their pink bag smiling at me right now.
And then it was time to head back to Fremont. Bus+BART fun. Gathered my stuff, said good-bye, and Charles took me to the airport. My flight was delayed, so I sat using SJC's free wireless to work on my lab introduction and talk to
ayasugi_san.
I am home now... and I need some sleep before I wake up early tomorrow to - what else? - spend the whole day working.
