So I decided I would join the
Oxford University Asia Pacific Society. Not a really, you know, calculated decision or anything. Just a spur of the moment "oh, what the hell" sort of decision. It's a paltry 8 pounds (and I love how I can consider that paltry), and I figure that now that I've joined and paid, I have incentive to, you know, go to their events.
I went to the drinks party, which was super awkward, because they just threw everyone into this very small room with very large tables in the middle with soda and chips on it. A lot of the freshers were already in their cliques, so it was hard to "mingle." I randomly picked up this other visiting student from Michigan, then we wandered around and picked up a girl from China, then she managed to find this guy from Hong Kong, who then managed to con a grad fresher from BU into talking to us. It was great.
I also won a ticket to the
Oxbridge Boat Party! I don't know how much tickets are, but it seems to be a nice party, so I figure I got something cool :D Plus now I have to meet people so it's not SUPER AWKWARD when I go, AND I have to find someone to go with!
Well, I mean, in principle I do.
