Twelfth Night was fantastic. The Royal Shakespeare Company did not disappoint, and James Clyde as Feste and John Lithgow as Malvolio were excellent. I'd go again just to see them.

Meanwhile, to sour the whole experience, I'm beginning to hate the people on my program.

shakespeare, pomona, oxford

Wow, sounds like a really cool performance. I always wanted to see something by the Royal Shakespeare Company.

I really liked the people on my program by the end, do you think you need time warming up to them, or are they sucky people?

I really liked them for the first few weeks. Now I think we're just spending too much time together, and tonight it just grated me all the wrong way. I'm tired of their inane questions and comments and being excluded from conversations and the fact that I feel like they're constantly complaining about the program and the fact that they're really acting like spoiled brats. I'm tired of one girl monopolizing (or very much attempting to monopolize) one of our liasions to the point where a) she gives up my seat on the bus to him and b) I haven't been able to meet him at all.

I'm hoping I'm just tired and that's why I'm pissy.

I guess it was different for me because I knew, or knew of everyone on my program before I left the states. But it sounds like your describing what happens when people spend too much time together, and have no place to expand. Hopefully its just your mood (which understandable, considering how stressful an abroad program can be at times.) Either way, are there anyone else to hang out with? Host brothers/sisters around your age? Other students at the school?
hope everything is better by tomorrow.

I'm hoping that it'll be better now that I have classes and work and things to sort of structure my life around. For a long time I've just been floating around doing reading and watching anime and stuff, and we've all been in the Pomona Room because that's the place where we can screw around and have internet and eat and stuff.

Yesterday was Fresher's Fair, and I signed up for a bunch of stuff that I hope I end up getting to. I'm hoping that I'll meet other people that way, so that I have other people to go out to lunch/dinner with and that sort of thing.

Thanks~ I feel better now, and I'm being civil, but I can feel that soon I'll start to get pissy again (I'm tired, I can feel it).

Hahaha. Like, I realize that they probably have a reason to complain in some cases, I just wish they'd stop doing it and blaming people for it when really they should just shut up and suck it up because complaining isn't doing anything. I also really don't like the way they're acting like the world, Pomona, and Oxford owe them something--I keep having to literally bite my tongue to avoid reminding them that Oxford could just as well not let us come at all.

I like the play a lot, and then I got to see RSC do it! Both of them were so dramatic they almost felt out of place--they definitely stole the show.
