Ever so closer
The week flew by; thankfully. Work has been busy. There are always things to do but, this week I has a few special requests from some of the doctors I work with and that is a little unusual. Hospice work is really not as hard as people think it is. Especially for me. I work with volunteers. The volunteers get to do all the fun stuff. I will have to detail that out a little more at some point. From time to time I do get really attached to a particular patient but even then when you are really sick, death isn't a bad thing.
I guess too it all depends on what you think happens after death. I believe that we go on. So when I have to say good-bye to someone in this world, I believe that I will see them again in the next. Anyway, enough about that.
Yesterday most of the day was spent taking the step-kids school shopping. Carissa, who will be a junior this year, is finally understanding that it is okay to wear is something other than Wal-Mart fashions. When the kids lived with their mother and step-father they only got clothes from Wal-Mart when they got new clothes. Most of the time they didn't even get new things, they just wore handed down clothes from someone.
Now I am know knocking Wal-Mart clothes, they do serve a purpose, etc. But I know that what life is like in high school for girls. I just want Carissa to look nice to help even out the odds for her. She is a little odd, not is a bad way, but in the way that people don't realize is cool until they are in college. All in all the shopping was a huge success. She got clothes that she actually LOVES and feels comfortable in and you could almost physically see her confidence grow. So I will count this as a win.
I have lots to do today, but I don't really feel like doing much of anything. I will force myself to do at least a few things because I am on-call next weekend and I never know how busy that will be. AND two weeks from now we are having friends over for dinner. So if I don't get stuff done today and next weekend the on-call blows up, I won't be ready for my friends the weekend after that. Plus I know that once I get some of this stuff down around the house I will feel better.
Now what not sure where all that came from. Randomness at best. What I was really going to post is....
We are ever so close to college football season. Yes I love all things football. I do watch the NFL, but to me the best games are college and even high school games. I am counting down the days until A&M's opening game. Just a few short weeks away now. Call me crazy but during football season everything I do is scheduled around the games. I can't help it. I have watched football my entire life. Some of my best and favorite memories are with friends and family at football games.
That's all for now. I am off to make some breakfast and then get something done.
