Workout Report 1/24/2011 Plus Random Musings

Jan 24, 2011 22:42

Back in the saddle for the first time since throwing my back out, assuming you don't count climbing four flights of stairs a couple of times a day at FC and a few forays into Dance Central as workouts. I didn't raise any weights this time around (except for the leg press, because the machine I used only had 45 lb. increments), just left everything at their pre-flareup levels and eased back into it.

Lower Back: 2 sets 10 reps @ 50 lbs (medium/tough)
Arm Extensions: 2 sets 10 reps @ 70 lbs (medium)
Upper Back: 2 sets 10 reps @ 45 lbs (medium)
Vertical Traction: 2 sets 10 reps @ 100 lbs (medium)
Shoulder Press: 2 sets 10 reps @ 20 lbs (medium/tough)
Squat Lift: 2 sets 10 reps @ 40 lbs (medium/tough)
Leg Press: 2 sets 10 reps @ 135 lbs (medium/tough; normally 120 lbs)
Cable Cross: 2 sets 10 reps @ 35 lbs (medium)
Chest Press: 2 sets 10 reps @ 40 lbs (medium/tough)
Arm Curls: 2 sets 10 reps @ 35 lbs (medium/tough)
Weight: 325.5 lbs. -- I guess the scale was wrong the first night, not last time!

It felt good to get back to it, although I could definitely tell it was tougher than it would have been if I'd been able to keep at it the past two weeks. But I'm pretty sure my back would have pulled out a gun and shot me if I'd tried.

In other news, I have been crankin' away on art for Confuzzled; this evening I did a draft image for the t-shirt and sent it off to the art team for feedback. Once that's done, I will probably do one more piece of "incidental art" and then move on to other stuff. I need to get cranking on Arclight Adventures so I can actually get it out while it still counts as "Early 2011" - although that may end up being, say, June. (It's still in the first half of the year, right?) But even more urgently, I need to finish No Predation Allowed and Attack of the War-Cats. I really want them in hand before CFz, which means they've got to get to the printers by March at the latest.

Over the weekend and this evening, to keep me going while I drew, I re-watched the main series of Love Hina, which I still love to pieces but can't just keep watching over and over again. It's hard to find something that will keep me inspired and entertained without requiring so much of my attention that I stop drawing ... it has to be something I'm familiar with so I don't have to try to follow the plot, something that fits the mood of an artsy evening, and something in English so I don't have to read subtitles. That last criteria unfortunately blows CardCaptor Sakura out of the water, which is a shame because it would be a great choice otherwise. A bazillion disks of humorous animated adventure with good art, likable characters, an interesting story arc, and just enough drama for spice but without ever actually getting heavy? I'll take a dozen, please! I wonder if there are any decent fandubs out there?

Ah well, in any case, it's bedtime now. G'nite, world, and have an awesome tomorrow!
