Lots of stuff going on these days. Work is busy and I’ve hired a guy to do my paperwork and filing for me. This is more awesome than awesome. Frees me up to do things I actually need to be doing and more importantly, frees my time to do what I want to be doing. Cool.
Switching topics, my hubby is about as sweet and sentimental as it gets sometimes. During the holidays my folk’s dog and long time pal, Pebbles, passed after 15 years of companionship. Their dog prior to that was Ralph, who had also lived 15 years. My dad took it pretty hard. Yeah, I get that it’s a dog, but in a fashion pets become part of the family.
Anyhoo, Flash came up with the idea to get a new pup for them as an anniversary gift. We picked out a teacup dachshund with piebald markings named Dolly. This pooch lives up to her name. She’s cute as a bug’s ear and pretty smart for a puppy.
Now, I’m extremely allergic to dogs, so when the breeder dropped the pooch off at our place, I was a bit apprehensive. We had to keep the dog for a week since my folks were on vacation. I developed rashes all over my body, in my ears, nose, and mouth. My eyes and nose were on a steady drip and burn cycle that I have to admit, I didn’t care for so much. Even so, Dolly was fun. More fun was my parent’s reaction to receiving their gift. They were both laughing and smiling as Dolly played with them and gave them puppy kisses. It was a really cute moment.
Flash is very thoughtful and I was grateful that he figured out the right sort of gift for my folks. Thank you, Flash. :)
In other news, it snowed this week and my mother wrecked her car on a county highway. She’s fine but sore from a crack she took to the noggin. Apparently the car slid off the road and went into a ravine, ala the infamous Dego vs Cow incident (sans the cow for Mom.) Unlike Ton’s accident, Mom managed to bridge the ravine with the front of the car on one side, and the back of the car on the other. Just so happened that there was an old log bridging the ravine as well, so Mom figured she’d step out on to that and then get to safe ground. Unfortunately, as soon as she stepped onto the log, it broke, dropping her about 6 or so feet to the ground. In the fall, she hit her head and broke her glasses. Ouch.
To make matters worse, when she climbed out of the ravine to the road there was a line of cars coming. The first one saw her and stopped, but the others couldn’t because it was so slippery, causing a bit of a pile up. She’s lucky she didn’t get run over. Fortunately, there were no major injuries, and all’s well that ends well. Her car is pretty much toast. It’s okay, it’s just a car. The incident makes me lurve Hyundai just little more. Like my Hyundai, Mom’s car took the wreck like a champ. If it hadn’t been for the fall, she wouldn’t have been injured at all. 5 star safety ratings matter.
That’s pretty much it for now. Ya’ll take care out there.
