stupid phonebook
tuesday evening i decided that i wanted to make frames. or decorate them i suppose i should say. i had bought an inexpensive frame and was going to give it as i gift, but i didn't really like the design on it, and it a good shape for painting over and collaging on myself.
i wasn't sure how late hobby lobby would be open. it was only 5, but hobby lobby isn't open on sundays, or at least they didn't used to be. so i wanted to call and make sure they were open. but of course our phonebook is the most useless thing of all time. it's bothered me for awhile. it's the phonebook for the fox valley area, so it includes st. charles, geneva, elgin etc. but it doesn't include anything at all that's east of here. so hobby lobby is probably like 3 miles from my house but it's in west chicago so no number in the phonebook. but should i ever want to call somewhere in yorkville or plano, those number are gonna be in my frickin' phonebook. what a piece of junk.
my dad told me to call information, which i did. and hobby lobby was open until 8pm, who knew.
when i got back from hobby lobby, my dad, khouane, yannick, and i went to this asian restaurant called white pearl in elgin. yannick likes it because he gets chicken wings. my dad didn't like it because they had a big screen tv and blasted crappy tv on it. but it was pretty funny that it annoyed him. it reminded me of the big screen tv at wise guys. RIP.
i made evan a frame for his birthday, and i made four more, one of which i gave to karl for him and shanon when i saw his yesterday. i spent wednesday with evan, and on thursday i drove evan back to iowa city and then drove home myself. driving from northeast iowa to iowa city, which is in central east iowa, and then back to northeastern illinois seems like it would take longer that drives in a straight line from here to northeast iowa, but it doesn't. most of the way you have to take route 20, and route 20 goes thru some small towns in northwestern illinois and the speed limit isn't very high.
