Aang/Katara, Sokka/Toph, and Spectacular Spider-Man

So like there's this funny thing about Aang/Katara and Spectacular Spider-Man.

But before you read:

1. Sokka/Ladies//Peter/Ladies!? For Spider-Man, my OTP was MJ/Peter through and through (and it still IS for most incarnations of Spider-Man). And I never ever ever ever ever wanted to ship Gwen/Peter, or any other Spider-Man ships. But... in Spectacular

I dig crossovers of things I love (because when I love things, I generally want to just squash them together), so this was awesome.

And I really hope you consider linking this over on atla_unspoiled (half of it's meaningfully Avatar-related) and spidey_animated (last time I checked, the comm. could still use more activity, since the show it's committed to is SO great).

And maybe you did it for the LULZ, but I think Gwen/Peter and Aang/Katara are similar pairing-wise. I mean, I think they're strongest similarity is Friends First, Probably Something Much More Later. And, uh, I keep comparing Peter and Katara because of idealistic responsibility ("I will never EVER turn my back on the people who need me!"/"I can never not look away again" or something to that effect in response to Tombstone's first offer, and of course the Uncle Ben's mantra). Not to mention I keep comparing bloodbending-going-downhill in relation to the Symbiote takeover.

And then you make me realize that Aand and Gwen are, initially maybe, the first heavy crusher-ers of the other and suffering the most from pains of longing for the other (could I not have expressed in a less cornball way?)

Still, I keep thinking of Aang and Spidey quips.

Oh yeah, Gwen/Peter and Aang/Katara totally fit the BFF -> Romance trope, although that's a really broad level similarity. Hmm, the Aang & Spidey quips is a great point because they're both designed to be fast, smart heroes who take down their enemies with wits... not necessarily with brute force.
