Starting Over

She deeply inhales her cigarette
Staining it with her lipstick
She's trying her best to forget
The people who've made her sick

She no longer has rose colored glasses
The lenses fell out sometime ago
Watching the people she passes
She's amused at the free puppet show

She tries to see things for what they are
But everything in her vision in rotted
Her outlook on life was marred
Her pain seeming allotted

Though she's disconnected from the world
She smiles at people passing by
She's going to give it another whirl
Those far away hear her battle cry

She defiantly faces her pain
She won't let it get in the way
She won't let her life go down the drain
Damnit, she's here to stay

There's pieces of her heart still missing
But she determined to make herself whole
She'll waste no more time reminiscing
She's finally ready to take control

She's not going in this blind
She knows the possibility of pain
But she's determined to find peace of mind
She's ready to live again
