Indecision may, or may not, be my problem.

This is stupid.
No, it's not. It's justified. Not only is she proving to be willing to pull every trick in the book to 'keep him in line', now she's separated from his brother. Nathan had spent the night with Peter at his hotel -- because Nathan could've offered a room at the house until he was blue in the face, and Peter still would've said no -- trying to talk things out with him and getting nowhere.
He saw both sides of that one, and he hated that. Nathan didn't know where he was going to land if this went any further than it had. And he couldn't exactly speak to the other party involved and try to check in with her. He'd thought about it, though. But he wouldn't.
Which was stupid.
No. It wasn't. Every time he saw his daughter on television, he was reminded of how stupid it wasn't. Yes, JP was taking care of her. But that didn't mean things were going to get any better. JP was as 'out' as Claire was, if not moreso, a thousand times moreso. JP had been shot for being 'out'. Or not. They could never really be sure.
And granted, Claire would survive that. Being shot. She would. Provided the shooter didn't hit that one tiny point in her brain. In that case, it would be all over. It was rolling the dice. And Nathan wouldn't've done a thing to protect her.
God, that was stupid.
Yes, that was stupid. Forced into a holding pattern where Nathan watched everything that went on with Claire without any advice at the very least on how to handle things. He misses her. He feels guilty. Why couldn't he offer that much, at least? In a goddamned e-mail, if he had to. Maybe he could. Untraceable, that was possible. Just. Something.
But no, he couldn't do that. Because of Sasha. Sasha, who was more of a Petrelli than she'd ever let on. Sasha, who might be divorcing his brother, but not the practices of their family. Sasha, who had two kids to worry about, was under a considerable amount of stress, and was still his friend.
He should probably call her.
No.
Maybe.
If he has to spin together another positive-esque answer one more time to what he thinks of what happened at that carnival, Nathan's going to scream. But that would probably be bad. He really shouldn't. He's the political face of a movement. The 'normal' senator who stood up for the rights of people who with abilities. Against Proposition X.
He still might scream though. Maybe once. Just to see how it feels.
But he really shouldn't.
Nathan is exhausted. And that is definitely justified. He's pissed, and that's justified too. He's pretty sure he's being followed. That may or may not be justified, but it's definitely another thing that pisses him off. He's sure of that. If it's even true.
As long as he maintains the right attitude to the outside world, everything will be fine. Really, this is no different than the usual. Except, eventually, he's going to have to do something. Well, he wants to. But he can't. He can't do anything that won't let down thousands. And that, Nathan is certain he can't handle.
Damn it.
Maybe one call to Sasha.
No.
Yes.
Maybe.
A drink?
Absolutely.
