A Quick Note Regarding Membership Requests
I have been getting PMs here and there from people asking why their membership requests have been denied and so I figured I would post this here to inform people of the deal. It breaks my heart to think that I may be denying access to perfectly innocent people, but as we have stated before, our main objective is to protect the active members of this community from becoming targets, so this is what we are left with.
If you tried to join and you were declined it was probably for one of two reasons. Either you had a blank journal, or you had no lj activity (friends, other communities that you were active in).
We are being super cautious about who we let in, so if you had been a lurker that no one knew, it is hard to tell you apart from a troll who just joined to keep watch on us for malicious reasons.
I would suggest keeping your journal updated, becoming active in some public communities, and starting to interact with people. That way, you can build up a reputation of being a trustworthy person.
I'm sorry this is such a tricky process, but we have our hands tied.
