Hai! We are all in the same boat. ~grin~ I'm relieved to, now we can sail the academic seas together!
...Are you serious? Who is this Dr. Bridgers? And good for you for speaking up! I did the same several times in my World Religions course, but it was to explain things to other students, the teacher was actually extremely open-minded on all religions (as they should be if they're teaching the course...). And I know exactly what you're talking about, I consider myself a very spiritual person but not a particularly religious one. And your paper sounds absolutely wonderful, I'd love to read it some time. Yeah, Cristy was really annoyed at how student participation has plummeted all over campus...Gah. So it goes.
Dr. Bridgers was an adjunct. I think she might be full time now. She's decided to stay and teach next year as far as I know. She's not a horrible teacher, but she just doesn't seem to realize that she is prejudice. No one says anything about it either cause they are scared to rebuke a teacher or that they feel the same way. I'm leaning towards feeling the same way. She was just always so sarcastic when talking about any religion that didn't have some kind of Dogma or something. But maybe after reading my paper she'll realise she felt the same way towards Wicca as others. I want Meagan to read it and get her opinion too. If you want I can email it to you as an attachment when I get back to Mobile.
Also, I'm really sorry about art league. *That* was the club that I *really* wanted to get involved with. It's really unfortunate that things would turn out this way. Well, at least this gives me more time for MSU stuff. **shakes uncontrollably** I want Cristy to come back!!
Oh God, yeah you do have something to worry about. If you need a hand, let me know. I won't be an officer, but I will be a pal. Sorry kid, but you got yourself into this mess!
Same here! I'm not much for an officer, but I certainly will be a pal. (Though tell me if you need any security...~wink~) Don't worry, we'll all give you a hand- be it international costumes or international foods (or abducting slacking MSU members and forcing them to go to meetings...~grin~) Cristy will be there in spirit! Maybe she could even come visit and be a guest speaker or something. ^.^
No one should ever be sarcastic or disrespectful when they're talking about another religion, especially if they're a teacher! Maybe I should sneak into one of her classes someday... Making scenes in public is one of my specialties, and I don't mind calling people out at all if need be. ~grin~ Or, if she continues to be so close-minded, I say we sic one of the Jesuits on her. All the one's I know are extremely open-minded.
Oh God Kate I'm having the same thing happen to me here at home with my father--close mindedness. I'm going to post about it cause its too long just to comment. But its really just upsetting.
