Today I handed in half my college envelopes. That felt nice. I also finished my Invisible Man essay at 3 am. That felt sorta nice. I wish I wasn't such a damn procrastinator though. I'd be so much more calm and efficient. It's also a shame I'm such a crappy writer. I actually got really upset about that today, haha.
So my six day weekend was thoroughly enjoyable. The APES trip was awesome, except for the matter of the suspensions and the fact we weren't allowed to start a fire to make smores. Camping with friends is always wonderful though, and I love hiking in the woods and just enjoying nature. It is so satisfying; one of the few truly fulfilling activities, I think. No guilt or regret attached to it, which is rare in this crazy world we live in. Caving was great, too. Definitely something I'd do again. For about an hour we walked through the thin passageways and caverns of this cave system with our headlamps, often in freezing cold water. Of course, since I'm short it came up to my bellybutton, which was pretty painful. The geologic schtuff was really cool though, and there were hundreds of really adorable bats. They're so cute, just like hamsters with wings, from the back. One actually flew so close to my head that I could hear the air when it beat it's wings.
Unfortunately, our bus broke down on the way home, so we got to school after homecoming started. We were already getting whooped and it was raining, plus we all had the SAT (II)s in the morning, so nobody wanted to stay. I was very disappointed, since it is my senior homecoming and I have such fond memories of last year's homecoming. But oh well, I sch'pose. At least the IIC is over. It was hard, but I'm glad it's done. Now I just have to deal with my retake of the SAT I. Haha the night of homecoming though Squeak was in town, so she showed up at her usual ungodly hour, and we sat in the kitchen and caught up and ate muffins. Simple stuff like that makes me really happy.
Happy belated birthday to Sydney and Linsey :o). The two of them had their triple birthday party the other day, along with Alison, which was some good, old fashioned, clean fun with the whole crew. It had been a while. It was nice. I think I kind of enjoy it when we're not doing anything... more mischevious than attacking each other with silly string. Like late night movies at Jules', or cake-making and home-wrecking :o)
Hmm, I can't think of a whole lot else to say, but I feel like there's never a dull moment. I'm always running around doing something. Oh, speaking of which- after working for... a while on my injected chick embryos for research, they were processed and sectioned and observed and there is nothing abnormal about them (there was supposed to be something abnormal about them haha). So I am quite pissed. Why is it stuff like this never seems to work out for me?
Oh! Important! We stopped at McDonalds on the way home from our APES trip, and Kristina and I got everyone there (and there were a lot) to give us their monopoly pieces. So if we get any single piece we don't already have, we'll win something. Therefore, if you love us (or just one of us, that works too), give us any monopoly pieces you don't want! Help a brother out! Haha :o)
It looks like I may be getting a new car, since my dad's Prius is going to take forever to get here and Hercules just won't last that long :o(. So yesterday I went to test drive the Mazda3, which I thoroughly enjoyed. It was nice and responsive and peppy, but then again, what isn't compared to the Jeep? We figured a hatchback would be most logical due to moving into college and hauling stuff and the like, so
here's the one we're looking at (the 5 door on ze right, but in a different color).
Unrelatedly (I love how that's not actually a word but I use it in informal writing all the time anyway), Paul McCartney's new album Chaos and Creation in the Backyard is pretty good. The old boy actually made some respectable post-Beatles music! Good for him! I was sorely disappointed I couldn't see him in concert... but he's got another tour in him... right? I also am enjoying the John Mayer Trio. Whoo bluesy-ness. Well, I think this has been sufficiently lengthy, all apologies.
Quote of the Entry: Let's do something. Anything. I have cake!!! AND SMELLY MARKERS!
