Yesterday in Writing for the Media we talked about choosing the right word for the situation. You don't say "fireman", you say "firefighter". You don't say "stewardess", it's "flight attendant". If someone is under 12 years old, their a "child", 13-20 a "teenager", 20 and above "adult". This prompted me to raise my hand and ask,
"If you're interviewing a 9 year old boy, but he has a full beard, what should you call him?"
Prof. Conboy just kind of looked at me and said, "We'll cross that bridge when we come to it."
