Intro Post!
It’s nighttime, and Martha is once again looking at her arms, only to see massive welts from her father’s belt. She’s starting to feel desperate. Grabbing her blue ribbon, the one she so dearly wants to thread through the neck of her nightgown, she slips out of her room, and out of the house, wishing she could be anywhere but where she is now.
A little bit of time passes, and she’s not quite sure where she is anymore, but it is certain that it isn’t home. It can’t possibly be, as she is standing, facing a gigantic gate that she has never seen before.
Wondering what she’s doing, and where she is, she calls out, “Hello?”
