Aaand, Wendla was outside again. She'd only meant to take a brisk walk because it was quite chilly in recent days. It was windy, too, and the wind had taken her hat away, making Wendla chase it down the path, laughing a little to herself.
She was reaching up to pluck the hat out of its path when she saw it. A single white snowflake.
Her eyes lit up and she ran back down the pathway, yelling, "Snow! Snow! It's finally snowing!"

Michelle, whose window had been open, covered her face with her hands. It was chilly enough in the house and she hated it, so snow was the last thing she wanted. She groaned.

Helena had been sitting outside, staring into space and daydreaming like she always did, looked up at the sky after hearing Wendla's cries. She had never seen snow before in her entire life.
"Oh. Oh, gods..."
