msn recently posted about the
top 50 inventions of our time. and it's an interesting read. but what caught my attention is this:
1966--HIGH-YIELD RICE: The International Rice Research Institute in the Philippines releases a semi-dwarf, high-yield Indica variety that, in conjunction with high-yield wheat, ushers in the Green Revolution. Indica rice thrives in tropical regions of Asia and South America, raising worldwide production more than 20 percent by 1970.
upon further
research, the article apparently was first published last december 2005. the original article
here.
truly, that is something to be proud of. i know the people involved are not all filipino, but it's safe to say that it's philippine made. it's amazing that something created here can be considered one of the top 50 inventions of our time. this just goes to show, that we are a smart race regardless of what our politicians would allow us to believe.
if our government supported efforts such as this, who knows what could have been created by now. maybe the oil problem wouldn't be such a big problem. or maybe the term brownout would never been part of our history. we have all the resources except for support from the people who may or may not have been a recipient of a the support of the majority of this country.
haay!

in other news, i'm just giddy with delight. i might relearn badminton, just because someoen invited me to. and although, it's wrong to do something just because someone is into it, i think i could leave that fact and just think that this could be a good chance for a healthier lifestyle. i'm also giddy with the thought that something i did a few weeks ago reaped its reward. erm... i can't really discuss it here in full length, cause it involves l.j. hehe! and manesh, i'm going to delete your post if you allude anything to it. hehe!
