Of course most of you have noticed in the recent past I've begun working on trying to become more of a man, and I've been doing this because of the influences of the strong, powerful men in my life - past and present. Say what you will about the idea of being a strong, powerful, manly man (and God help me I know some of you will) but I've been ( Read more... )

if it's good enough for my mom..., moving forward by moving back, carving zeds, calm-am-it-tea, and to all a good knight, his imperial highness, pompous tomfoolery, appropriate song selections, lust and food and violence, (the) epic win, i'm not bulletproof, an officer and a gentleman, made of "love" and "awesome", you make loving fun, clothes make the man

I'm not overly sure about cold water shaving though.

Yeah, I hate cold showers. And I've done cold shaving. Pass when possible.

Actually the cold showers bit has a point.
I do that (army forced, at times.)

Well, yeah, they have their merits on the right occasions. Like a hot summer day after engaged in vigorous PT. But when it's -20 outside, I want the heat.

I have never heard a frostbite victim express concerns for their pores.

Obviously.

Speaking of which, I just broke out my summer shorts tonight. It's -6 outside and I'm protesting. Mind over matter (my feet are freezing).

I broke out my shorts today too, but it got over 20 here. (We are talking in celsius, right? If you're wearing shorts in -6 Fahrenheit you're either crazy or in Colorado, where I see people in jackets with shorts in the winter.)

Celsius. I know not your crazy alternative measurement system.

Oh good, that means I used the right system.

Fahrenheit is relatively illogical to me (a 0-100 scale based on water from freezing to boiling makes more sense than 32 to 212) but it's more common here. When I lived in Colorado the local news kindly gave both Fahrenheit and Celsius numbers in the immediate forecast and I miss that here.

That's a seasonable temperature for this time of year. It's the summer when I envy those of you in cooler climes.
