connected at last
Finally, I get to use my own damn computer to surf the internets, both wireless and ethernet. Prepare yourselves for a tidal wave of photos to be posted on Facebook forthwith. Hooray! There shall be images of Hong Kong Island, Macau, Lantau Island, my apartment! and the dumpling party last night! Look and be amazed!
I still love it here quite a lot. I met my professor yesterday, Ersu Ding. He's very funny and relaxed. He says I am only required to attend his first lecture so that the students know who I am and then all I have to do for him is read the texts and hold regular office hours. I don't think I will be content with such a light commitment, especially after he explained how most Lingnan students think reading and analyzing literature is useless. Ahhh! I buzzed around my apartment after our meeting making declarative statements to the air about how vital, how intrinsic to the human experience literature is. Time will tell if I can convey even the littlest bit of my enthusiasm to these unmotivated, business-minded Hong Kongers.
