I and my possessions are now quite comfortably installed in my new/old home, after a fairly incredible three-and-a-half hour move. For those amazed by the concept, the key ingredients were:
- A U-Haul big enough that we could get everything over in one trip (take that, people who doubt women's spatial orientation skills)
- Serendipitously sunny weather (in Portland, in January, I know)
- Eight amazing friends, one of whom is a Texan so burly that he lowered my mattress from the balcony to the ground with nothing more than a long rope
- Actually having boxed up all my stuff and consolidated it downstairs beforehand
- The fact that, yet again, I was moving all of two miles
Also, apparently with enough people and the promise of dinner afterwards (and I've gotta say, that was one tasty meal I threw together), I succeeded in pitching the whole experience less as work and more as exciting Macguyveriffic hangouts. My burly flexing also brought all the girls to the yard.
I've still got plenty of unpacking to do, plus cleaning of the old place and some painting at the new/old, but overall, I am quite pleased.
(Mom, I'll call you guys after some errands tonight. <3)
se,
of the good
