Apparently it is virtual snowflake-cookie day!
setissma,
kisa_hawklin, and
shaenie, you are lovely, sweet people. Thank you! Also, I feel like this is the appropriate time to give a shout-out to my roommate, who left me a little bag of four
Fleur de Sel Macarons from Pix, which is the one dessert, that, no lie, can nearly bring me to tears every time. So clearly, it has been a weekend for people I am lucky to have in my life expressing their regard through cookies.
It's incredibly cold here tonight -- okay, not by the standards of a lot of you, but it's the third or fourth straight night it's been below freezing in Portland. I'm incredibly grateful to be indoors, and able to crank the heat up for a night and crawl under the blankets. I spent a lot of the evening peering around me at this big house and feeling the vague guilty itch at all the warm space I was using just by myself. A coworker told me about a billboard they had in Minnesota, that gave the temperature reading next to the words "Room Temperature for the Homeless." I've been thinking about that a lot these last few nights. I hope that if you're reading this, you and your loved ones are warm right now.
