Very cool! I liked reading the story.

The link up there goes to the picture though. Use http://www.inkedblog.com/archives/2006/09/every_body_has_a_story_walla_w.html for the link to the actual blog entry.

I feel like you're my journal beta. This, me getting the date of the West standalone wrong by a century--you always seem to be there to gently clue me into my boneheaded typoes. *hugs*

You got a Walla Walla tattoo. You are the biggest Whitman nerd ever. I salute you.

(Even if "walla walla" actually means "little water.")

Hee. I can't believe you didn't know about the tattoo.

And yes, I went back and forth on the "little" vs. "many" merry-go-round, but was eventually told by KJ (who had consulted both an anthro prof and I think a Native tribal/heritage center) that in the local language the repetition denoted plural and not diminutive, and that the "little" thing was a consistent mistake. The original design had been for "little water", but whatever evidence she came up with (can't recall now) was convincing enough that I redesigned.

So if she was wrong, don't tell me, because I shall stick my fingers in my ears, go "la la la," and this shall forever be my Walla Walla tattoo.

oh...before i read the explanation, the first thing that popped into my head was that quote from the Song of Solomon "many waters cannot quench love" (KJV) which i love...

*grin* Yeah, a lot of people go Biblical with it -- at least it's a nice accidental reference, though.

Hi, who are you and how'd you end up all the way back here, anyway?
