Poem - father's son

Sep 25, 2005 15:36

this man before you now
may breath the same whispers
and bear the same mask
but the man you knew has passed
into eternity, with all his secrets
these mild eyes now belong
to the father's son

the destruction of that poorer soul
hath brought the birth of another
to dance new dances
and sing new songs
all to the smae old tunes
that hang forever in the mourning air
over his stilled heart

all the burdens, and the dim torch
have been passed to a fairer soul
one that, in knowing the horrors
in the abyss of his father's heart
might redeck the faltering sails
and, moving on, past the tomb of the skull
find the sacred end to his sorrows

so on, ever, forever on
i sail, a sea of worries beneath my deck
bearing the same burdens
suffering the same wounds
and fighting the same nightmares
that i shall forever have
inherited with the dream
