Poem - schrödinger was right

if you take a cat
and place it within a box
sealing it tight
and you share with it
the poison of the past
but, in mercy
you give it better odds
even
more than any of us
ever got
the poor beast will, at once
both live and die

and in this state
of quantum multiplicity
where death and life
the eternal imposters
may behold eachother
and clasp hands together
the soul within knows
life and death
as one

but
if one should be
as bold as to place
an ear upon the box
the spell is broken
and the chances must choose
what fate to take
life, or death
one as good as the other

but
if you, my dear
should be as bold
as to open my box
letting out the lingering poison
and lend me a simple touch
breaking the spell
of living-death
i promise you, my love
your ear shall find
a purr
