Poem - your garden

Jul 06, 2005 23:11

my beauteous mistress
i beseech thee
shed such lovely light
upon this mortal night
with the tender heart that flutters
softly in thy fair bosom
a most comely moon

alas
never hast a man dreamed
so heavenly in sleep
as i hath here
safe in the summer of your love
where a soft kiss
from my beautiful lover
bestowns such maiden mercy
upon my fiery breast
that i am set to such peace
as only the night may know

here, in the garden of your love
where one wooing look
beguiles the flowers to speak in whispers
and the wind to dance in tongues
i may be laid down soft
besides the singing brookes
and the carassing grasses
and let my cares and woes
float away in the breeze
with the faeries
gone to seed somewhere else
here in your garden
neither weeds nor worries
may take root

it is here where i may thrust
my daring hands into your streams
and wash away all my troubles
and all my sins
and come back to you, anew
clean and pure and true
as your sweet heart deserves
and i may take you up in my arms
and spin you 'round
your silken hair a fan of grace
and, coming down
bring you to another world
where the only sound is your gentle breath
and the only demand
is the gentle now
begging you to forget tomorrow
and live with me here
in this perfect moment
forever!
