Helloo.
Today I had lunch with John, the other ALT in Gobo and his friends at one of their houses. Lots of good Chinese food was had. The food was good but the party itself was a little boring. I was the youngest person there with the 2nd youngest being 39. Most of the people were older than that. There was this one lady that kept going on and on about her kids and about how one of them wanted to get married or whatever. I was thisclose to banging my head on the table and rolling around on the floor just to alleviate the boredom.
When they asked me if I was single they were like "Oooohhh she's single!" to the 39 year old guy. ...Yeah....no.
The food was fantastic though. I want to learn how to make that stuff.
On Saturday I went out to Wakayama City and did a Full Metal Panic marathon with Elaine (who hadn't seen it) and Elliot. I don't think I've watched at all since Anime Club did a Saturday marathon a long time ago. It made me nostalgic. It's definitely dated now. The cell phones are huge and the CGI is super clunky and awkward.
We watched a big chunk of Fumoffu too.
After that we went out for sushi. I've only gotten sushi 5 times since I've been here. I only get sushi when I'm with other people, and I don't really feel like getting it by myself. You kind of have to go to a sit down restaurant and eat it there or get grocery store sushi. The fancy take-out kind is too expensive for me.
Whenever I've gotten sushi in Japan I've always gotten the cheap conveyor belt kind. It's decent. Of course, kaiten sushi wouldn't be kaiten sushi without screaming babies. Yes, kaiten sushi places are always packed with screaming kids and their parents desperately trying to keep them from touching the sushi as it goes around. Lovely.
Anyway, tomorrow I have the day off! Kind of. I am going to immigration office to take care of visa junk.
The immigration office is in a super shady place that is not convenient to reach. Seriously, it's in an office building with these warehouses around. There are boats and the building itself is off a side street behind a house. Yeah it makes no sense. To get there I have to take a day off because it's an hour away by train and then a half hour bus ride from the station. But it's something that's really important that I do so I have the full understading of all work people involved.
Speaking of work. I still have no idea where I'm going to be in April and I probably won't know until really late and last minute. ...Yaaay. I'm not really comfortable talking about work stuff too much on here. It's been a week since my interview and I haven't heard back from that company yet.
In other news, I like Arashi's new single a lot. It seems like when I first got here they were pretty overexposed...but now aside from the Android commercial I haven't seen too much of them around recently.
I am also super excited about キスマイ and MBLAQ debuting. I look forward to their stuff.
Aaaand now I really should go to bed because there's been something up with my phone and I need to take care of it before I do immigration stuff. Blergh.
