Dear Vic,
I suppose, by now, you've heard that I left New York. I went back. I got shot, and the only good thing about that was at least it wasn't by a clown. But it showed me that I can't do this alone. I really don't like being alone, and Jonathan turned out to be a deadly mistake. I do that. I want to see the best things in the people I care for, but sometimes it simply doesn't turn out.
I'm the Assistant Director, now. Jackie's here, I hate to say. I guess nothing with her was what we thought, either.
Vic, I need to tell you...Mac is alive. The Tangs have him, somewhere, and I'm going after him. I don't know how long that's going to take, but Jackie and I are determined to find him. The Director gave me free rein and the resources I need. When I find him, I'll let you know.
I know that you say you're gay. But I also know that there is a woman in your life, from The Director's files. Yes, you were right, she keeps an eye on you. So, I think the message is, you're gay when it comes to me. I don't blame you for that, I know that when Mac showed up, things between us went bad. I'm sorry for that. But I'm not sorry for loving either one of you. I'm not sorry that Mac showed up, or that we worked together as a team. We did good work, and we could have been even better. And if romance didn't work, it was both our faults. You've moved on. I have, as well. So let's not pretend with each other anymore.
By the time you read this, I'll be on my way to Hong Kong with Jackie. I hope your new job brings you satisfaction, Victor. I'll tell Mac hello for you.
Take care,
Li Ann
"So, are we ready to go?" Jackie's miniskirt and boots contrasted sharply with Li Ann's gray suit and black leather coat.
"Let's go." Li Ann glanced down the corridor at The Director, who smiled and turned on her heel, walking away. It was time to go find Mac Ramsey.
