SPN rant: 8x02 feels (spoilers if you haven't seen it)

Notice how Cas doesn’t look up when Dean calls? The look of absolute pain/frustration on his face when he hears Dean’s voice? He thinks he’s hearing another one of Dean’s prayers. Another prayer he can’t answer. For Dean’s own safety. And it’s just killing him because, well, he always used to come when Dean called.



And then when he realizes Dean is actually there, his expression is just full of shock/horror, because it’d been so hard to put a safe distance between them, and there Dean is just walking right into danger again.



Of course Castiel isn’t be happy about it. Of course he can’t even hug Dean back. And when Dean says he’s not leaving without him, Cas doesn’t reply “alright” or “okay” but instead says “I understand”… He understands that Dean Winchester is a stubborn man and won't accept anything else, no matter how much more difficult that makes their survival.



And there’s this sad resolve in Castiel's eyes when he says it, like he’s only going to humor Dean while it’s safe to do so, but he will do whatever it takes to keep Dean alive, even if it means he might have to leave him again...
