Interlude

Thanos releases the limp and broken form of the blue-skinned alien in his grasp, and it falls to the floor - lifeless. His gaze rises to menace the rest of the so-called 'warrior' priests that bar his path.

"This one had the courage to face me - and I have granted him a quick release in appreciation of that courage. Who else amongst you seeks a quick death at the hand of Thanos?"

The aliens glance to one another, struck quite speechless - fitting, as his arrival on this planet had showcased the raw power at his disposal. They had hardly needed that third moon, in any case. A few of the priests examine their spear-like weapons as they ponder the prospects of battling the demon before them.

Thanos relaxes his battle-stance, smiling coldly as he adopts the regal posture for which he is more usually known. "I thought not. It is of little consequence - stand aside."

The book. The book was all that mattered here. So long as he didn't level the entire temple, it would be reasonably safe. Even if he were forced to destroy these priests..

Perhaps sensing the Titan's depth of conviction and dedication, the warrior-priests reveal the shallowness of theirs. As a unit, they break, fleeing from the temple to preserve their own lives. Thanos chuckles coldly as he advances into the reliquary of the temple to claim his prize.
