This is going to be filled with tl;dr stuff so uh, yeah. Long thing on Riku's relationship with Misuzu since I just wanted to write it for some reason. Probably because I just finished the AIR anime, I'm currently replaying KH2, AND I read the
1sentence thing Cola wrote for the two. Yeah. XD;
No ljcut because who the hell would look here anyway? And warning, there is a very lame KH/AIR refrence at the end. Like, EXTREMELY lame.
Misuzu is special to Riku. I mean, he's protective over a lot of people--Nill, Chii, and others. But Misuzu is sort of like a little sister/daughter to him. He does all the things that a parent would do, and all the things that a brother would. So they're like a weird little mini family.
She's one of the very, very few people that he has trouble lying to. Usually he could just tell someone that he was fine when he really wasn't without a second thought, but he always feels guilty for hours and hours whenever he tells even the smallest lie to Misuzu. It's mainly because he keeps on telling her that he's not that great of a person, and that he had done a lot of bad things, but she always, always says that he's good. So he feels like when he lies to her, he's proving that he really isn't all that good.
Speaking of lying, Misuzu is one of the few people that Riku talked about his past to. But so far he has only told Olette the entire story, and she's gone now. So like, the two or three other people that he talked about it to, he only told bits and pieces. And those bits and pieces were kind of vague. And he isn't really sure if he wants to tell Misuzu the entire story. Even though he knows that Misuzu will always say that it was in the past, he's sort of scared deep down that if he told her, she'd think of him differently. So he rather keep her in the dark about it than spoil their relationship.
And he worries about her lyk whoa. He knows that she's cured and all, but he's terrified of the thought of Misuzu dying again. And he's even more terrified that it'd be his fault again. Because, hey, if he never became friends with her, she wouldn't have died. But a part of him is relieved that it happened, because now Misuzu is happy, and if she's happy then Riku is happy. But if she ever got sick and died again, Riku would freak even more than he did before. He doesn't want her to go through all that pain more than once.
He also worries about her life back home. It's pretty obvious that Misuzu is way happier on the Island than she ever was back home. Even though she told him that she didn't have friends back home, he hoped that she was exagerating, But after seeing her reaction when Kano and Ayu showed up at their respectibe times, it finally really hit him: She really, really has been alone. He has no idea what her relationship with her mother was like since Misuzu only briefly mentions her at random. The only person that Riku truly knows stuff about is Yukito.
So, Yukito. Riku can tell that Misuzu likes--no, loves--him. And it kind of makes him sad. If Yukito showed up, Misuzu might forget about Riku, and that's what scares him. He has a feeling that he's just sort of replacing people who she can't have because she's on the Island. And if the people showed up, where would that leave him? If Yukito did arrive, and he showed interest in Misuzu, Riku'd act the same way towards him like he did with Hana when Olette was still there: He'd be kinda mean to him and rude, since hey, he's protective. But in the end, if it's what would make Misuzu the happiest, Riku would let her go with Yukito, even if he has to have a smaller role in her life because of it.
But then there's the thought that Misuzu might be right, and Yukito doesn't really care for her. And if he doesn't, Misuzu might get sad. And Riku absolutely hates it when she's sad. So he'd probably try knocking Yukito to his sense and force him to realize how great a girl Misuzu is. Although he'd really hate doing that for reasons stated in the paragraph above. But, yeah, comparing his own feelings and Misuzu's, the latter wins by a landslide.
Since he doesn't know how much time he has with Misuzu--it could be years or just a few more days for all he knows--he wants to make sure they spend it as happily as possible. He wants her to take back wonderful and great memories when she goes home, and not feel sad that she might never see her new friends again. He loves Misuzu very much, and she impacted his life greatly. The only other non-KH people that probably affected who he is like she did are Laharl and Yuki, but how he feels about Misuzu is really different from how he feels about those two. Actually, he'd deny having any type of feelings for Laharl besides utter annoyance. And even though he's just a fragment of her dream, Misuzu has helped turn some of the darkness in Riku's heart into light. And he's very, very thankful for that.
