Yesterday, I had a very nice Harry Potter-y evening ( Read more... )

The best thing was that I actually got to write some fic! I haven't done that in weeks.

Yay for fic writing! Any idea how soon we can look forward to reading it? Is it fluffy or darker?

I've been writing like a fiend, too, at least compared to my normmal pace...which is a good bit of the reason I've been so quiet, at least since the tummy bug went away. Although, I swear, I should never be allowed to say I hate ANYTHING in fic because next thing you know, I'll be writing it. *sigh*

But while I'll surely get that knot untied at some point, people being deliberately unhelpful when they really shouldn't be is just the surest way to drive me up the wall.

Blech, I hate that. Some little ego/power trip thing to make other people frustrated. I know you'll get through it, though. *comforts*

(Very poignant icon you have there. :))

Thank you! The picture is by elasticblue. She's such a wonderful artist, I'm just sad that I could make decent icons from my favorite of her pieces - they're very detailed and just lose too much. *sobs* This one is another of hers...

Much worse. It's gen fic. And it's shaping up to be epic again if I'm not careful. Anyway, yeah. A big project, nothing that will be ready for posting next week, or anytime soon, if ever. It was just nice to be writing again.

Well, good luck with your own projects! And I'd be lying if I said that this hasn't made me very, very curious:

I swear, I should never be allowed to say I hate ANYTHING in fic because next thing you know, I'll be writing it.

Just what was it that you'd lately said you hate in fic? *g*

EEEEEEEK! *LOL* Just kidding. It's hard to sell me on one, true, but a couple of my favorite pieces are gen. ^__^ I'm glad you're enjoying it!

*hangs head* Second-person POV. And I DO hate it, really! Which I'm sure explains why I'm almost finished with a 3K dialogue-free 2nd person Sirius fic. Which I'm sure is going to sound horribly pretentious. But the bunny wouldn't go away...

Well we're all allowed to change our minds, aren't we? I wouldn't rule out that I might one day be attacked by a massive and irresistible AU plot bunny, either.

I'm almost finished with a 3K dialogue-free 2nd person Sirius fic.

So is Sirius the second or the first person in it? *g*

I got your e-mail, btw. Haven't read through it all yet but will do so soon.

*g* That I would like to see. Extra bonue points if Remus has amber eyes... *LOL* comtesse_sin mentioned a possible eventual badfic challenge... I think she was joking, but it sounds like a LOT of fun, once the FQF and Reversathon and Month of May is over, anyway.

So is Sirius the second or the first person in it? *g*

Hmpf. It's about Sirius and it's pretty angsty. I know you disagree at least somewhat with the basic premise, so it will be interesting to see how much it irritates you and why. *LOL*

Er, that should be bonus... In fact, please just ignore the bad spelling and grammar through that whole reply, thank you. ^__^

Hey, there is nothing in canon to say that Remus doesn't have amber eyes. It's not AU. It's just an awful cliché. That's different.

Uh-oh. The thing is, I do enjoy rolling my eyes at badfic now and then, and ranting about stereotypes... but there's a limit as to just how much of my time I would invest into dwelling on badfic. As with the Summary Executions, they're very funny from A to around C, but that's the point when I usually start wondering why I'm even wasting one minute of my time on that stuff.

Oooh, I'm guessing that's a fic about Auror!Sirius. Well, if you want to know, the one I have in the making is basically about why James and Sirius never became Aurors, so that should be fun indeed. *g*

Didn't mean it to be the same - just was thinking in general of things that you dislike.

I've heard that purposely writing badfic is very challenging... *shrug* and it sounds like fun to me...to each her own!

That's a really interesting guess - why did you think that? The fic is up and posted now, you will see what I did mean. Like the privacy issue, I'm lukewarm about the Auror thing. ^__^

Remus has amber eyes in "To Serve a Purpose", if you must know. I think the idea is quite beautiful. *g*

to each her own!

Oh, I'd absolutely have much fun reading your entries - just don't expect me to participate.

why did you think that?

Just because it's one of my favourite dislikes in MWPP fic.

*DT scuttles over to Xellas's LJ to find out if she guessed right.*

Fine! Fine! I admit defeat! *g* Here I stand, defeated. And the next time I write Remus, I hereby vow to give him amber eyes, just because.

Ha! So very wrong. *g* And now I'm going to go for double-or-nothing and say that not only is the main premise of the fic one you don't care for, but that the style it's written in drives you buggy. Am I right? ^__^

One caveat there - not for the reversathon fic, because that does bother a lot of people and wouldn't be fair to the author who requested the fic.

You know, the very strange thing is, I read your fic and liked it and then remembered there was something I was supposed to not like about it, but I can't for the life of me think what it should be. I'm serious.

O.o I'm not even sure how to take that one...

What you don't like, at least per previous conversations, is the idea that it Sirius was depressed/upset/etc. about his family. Er, kinda the premise of the fic. *LOL*

Seriously. I told you so.

Now honestly, I either have a very, very bad memory, or this is a big misunderstanding.

Um...are we talking about the same fic? Falling?

Yes... ?

It's based on the premise that Sirius had huge problems with his family that influenced his whole personality and stuck with him all his life. It's extremely well written and the psychology of it is very sound and it's an unusual but very believable look at Sirius and I liked it very much. Any reason why I shouldn't? *confused*
