OK, here is a quick update of what is happening. First of all, I WILL post about the convention last weekend but it is just not easy to write up yet (computer issues). However, let us get to this week. BTW, for my newer readers,
beldar & I are theater reviewers (you will notice a lot of mentions of the shows we see).
Monday night we went to see the Kids Play rehearsal. It was really cute. One of the funniest productions they have ever produced. The three wise men stole the show with their gifts of Gold, Frankenstein and Moooowwwwwuuuuurrrr. They we got some really spiffy glasses that make the lights appear to be flapping angels, ringing bells, snowflakes and other holiday stuff. They are so kewl.
Tuesday we saw the Christmas show at Beef & Boards. Gods! It was awful. The songs were OK but the hosts were pathetically dull and the dancers were so stiff I thought they would break. The costumes were not only ugly but they did not fit properly which made them even uglier. Oh well, at least we got a nice meal for free.
Wednesday,
beldar was late picking me up so we did not have much time to do anything. We did manage to free up a little DVR space so we could tape the shows from last night but not as much as I wanted to.
Last night we went to see A Christmas Story at
Buck Creek. It was every bit as charming and delightful as the movie but with a few added little jokes. If you are in the area and think you might like to see it, act fast. The first weekend is sold out and the other shows are selling out quickly.
Plans for the weekend are as follows: Friday night - nothing really. I would like to see The Taming of the Shrew at Butler University but I have not made any plans with anyone so I may see if we can go next weekend.
Saturday:
beldar has an awards banquet (no SOs) that he has to attend since he won something so I will probably drop him off and run some errands during that time. We are seeing a show at the Phoenix (probably over a certain asshole actors protestations) Otherwise, not much else.
Sunday is very full. We are helping set-up, tear-down and probably run the Saint Nickolas Fest at the Athaneum. This is a really fun event and for the past few years I have been in charge of displaying the cookies and cutting the Stollen. I really enjoy this event every year and am looking forward to this year as usual. If we do not work the actual event then I will get to accompany
beldar to the wrap-up meeting of Starbase Indy. No matter what, it’s a very full day and weekend all around.
Have a good weekend everyone and once again, Happy Birthday
