Hippity, Hoppity ...

I'd like to welcome bibliofile to our little group. I'm sure you'll find this a nice stop on your journeys.

What did I do last night? Hmmm. I'm pretty sure I did something. Hmmmmmmm. Oh yes, we had dinner at McCalister's it was great. They have monsterously large baked potatoes and they are heavenly. Yes, that's about it wasn't it?

Oh yea! We saw the Wallace & Grommit movie. I've got to say it was sweetly charming and very funny. There was a lot of slapstick British comedy but the humor seemed to translate very well to our side of the pond. There were so many little touches that were stricktly for the parents (the green grocer's shop was named "Harvey's", when Grommit covers a naked Wallace with a empty cheese box it has a tag reading "May contain nuts"). When Grommit turned on the car radio and they played "Bright Eyes" (from "Watership Down") I thought I was going to die (I was pretty much the only person who got this reference though). They have really developed the expression of various emotions through extremely subtle changes in the character's features. It was really a good movie and I know we will own it when it comes out on DVD. I think everyone here who was interested in the movie will really enjoy it when they get an opportunity to see it. It was the sort of film that would not be diminshed if seen on the home screen.

The only bad thing was that they didn't send the "Madagascar" short that is being shown with the movie in the regular release. The Dreamworks rep said that it was supposed to have been there but unfortunately it wasn't included. We did get to see the preview for "Over the Hedge" and it looks wonderful (although belching the ABCs is about to become VERY poular again).

As for today, beldar & I spent 4 hours this morning checking out the "Lord of the Rings" exhibit at the Indiana State Museum. It is fan-freakin-tastic! The costumes are exquisite and the props are amazing. A few of the displays could have been better lighted but that was not the Museum's fault but the creator's. The detail evident is spectacular especially when you realize that a great deal of it was not captured on film at all. For instance, there is a design in Legolas' jerkin that can only been seen faintly from a certain angle so you know it won't pick up on film. The best part of today was that it was the one and only time during the entire exhibit that anyone could take pictures (us being press and all), so beldar took as many as our crappy camera would allow. I know we will go back again later on but it was just so fantastic to see it before anyone else and be able to take our time and really enjoy and investigate the exhibits. If any of my readers are considering coming to see the exhibit, let me know and I'll be glad to help with the planning and possibly crash space and/or meal(s).

That said, I'll go.

TTFN!
