Okay folks now for a proper update as to what's been going on in my life. First of all, I am working. It took me just going down to the office and pushing them to find out my schedule but I did and now I'm working. The office is interesting. My coworkers are fun and it's really got the nice family sort of feel that I enjoy. I will include work updates as often as possible (no details but maybe hints of funny or unusual happenings). The only bad thing is that I'm working long days and weekends so I will barely get to see
beldar for the next few weeks. But then things will settle down and I'll at least get to see him on the weekends.
In arts news (for new readers,
beldar & I review theater for his paper so expect lots of reviews posted here as well), on Sunday we saw
"Richard III" at the Fringe building. The show was great but would have been better in the original Klingon (the lead looks so much like one it's not even funny). It's a great version and very much worth seeing if you can. Saturday night we went to The Phoenix to see
"The Housewives of Mannheim". While the performances were excellent, the script seemed to be trying to be too much and never fully developing any of the directions it went in. Still, it's a decent show and the WW2 nostalgia makes it even more enjoyable. Last weekend we went to see
"The Foreigner" at Beef & Boards. The show was hilarious and the cast easily milks every laugh out of the script possible. This was probably the best presentation of a play that I've witnessed to date (for those of you who don't know they do one straight play a year and the rest of the season is musicals). We also made it out to Theater on the Square for their production of
"My First Time". The show is a compilation of stories collected on the website
myfirsttime.com. The show is funny and fresh, but often scarring as one's first time can be. It's certainly worth seeing not only for the nostalgic rush but because many of these stories are often shocking, scary and yet more often than not beautiful. One note if you do go, there is a short survey regarding your own first time that you really should fill out honestly before-hand. The answers will be shared as part of the production but not connected to you unless you admit it to the audience on your own afterwards. We're still not sure who answered that what he wanted to say to his first partner was, "I shaved my balls for this?"
Not too much else happening in my life but I have been watching some TV lately. I finally got around to watching the "SyFy" (pronounced "siffy" or "fuck you fans, we'll spell it however we damn well please and you don't matter to us anyway") version of "Alice". It was an interesting take on the mythology but I felt pretty uneven overall. I felt that much of the acting talent was underused and the story suffered due to it. Shame they couldn't have had a stronger script to work with. On the upside of TV, I am absolutely pwoned by McG's newest show "Human Target". I think I may have to bear that man's children. He is amazing and is quickly pushing Chuck Lorre out of my favorite TV producer spot. Needless to say, see the show is great and you should definitely see it.
So, that's what's been going on in my life lately. Not too much else really. I hope you are all doing well and again, I will do my best to update and read as often as possible. Love to you!
TTFN!
