Well, I managed to survive the weekend and the convention. I planned to update yesterday but time got away from me and I never was able to.
Friday went pretty well. Ran a bunch of games early on (blogged about some of that Friday). My "Sonic Spatula" panel went pretty well. The Dalek cake didn't quite work out as the top disintegrated. However, I did manage to get the point of it out and the base decorated and the audience happily devoured it as well as the chupaqueso and the Klah. They really loved the panel and idea of it and I will be doing it again next year.
I went to bed early that night as I was exhausted.
Saturday was a very mixed bag. Not too much happened that morning.
veronica_rich made it to the convention during the LJ Meet & Greet. Afterwards,
beldar,
razzle, she & I went out for lunch. We hung out together and then she helped me with the "Create Your Own Costume Contest". The contest went very well but some of my people didn't listen to me and crapped out on me before the end. Still, I had four great contestants and it went very well.
The Masquerade also went well even though I didn't get to meet with my judges or MC prior to the start and my assistant didn't show so I had to do everything myself. Luckily, I was able to pull it all off and got a lot of compliments on how well it all went.
After that, I went and changed clothes and set out to get myself good and drunk. I managed to succeed in that quest thanks to our Author Guest of Honor, Michael Z. Williamson (
mzmadmike). He threw a wonderful party and I drank many wonderful scotches and had a great time hanging out with him and his friends.
Sunday morning,
beldar,
veronica_rich & I went out to breakfast at a wonderful little place across the street from the convention. We had some lovely pots of tea and a decent breakfast. However, my pancakes were a little raw in the center and we found a hair in
beldar's quiche so they comped our whole table's tab.
After that we made our way back to the con where we were on panels for much of the day and then drug ourselves to the dead dog party after it was all over.
Yesterday was spent recovering and decompressing from the whole experience. Overall, the whole thing went pretty darn well.
Next year will also be an interesting experience as I am not going to do Masquerade but have signed up to run the Art Show. We'll also be at a new location so it will be a nice change of pace overall.
I hope everyone out there had a wonderful weekend. I will talk to you all again soon.
TTFN!
