Time for the weekend wrap-up. Friday night's show at IRT was just plain awful.
Just as a note to future playwrights, don't write a play based on a historical figure who did not leave any letters or diaries. Especially when you MUST show the figure in the best light possible. Basically, William Connor married an Indian woman and lived with her for almost 20 years and had 6 kids. Then he helped forge a treaty that caused all of the Indians to leave their home and relocate forever (including his wife & kids).
Come on, the man got a government issued no-fault divorce that left him free to marry an 18 year old three months after they left. Maybe that's what he wanted and he didn't regret her leaving. But the play refused to consider any option but remorse.
Since we were there on opening night, there was a champagne reception afterwards. They had some wonderful gingery cupcakes & amazing chocolate dipped apple chunks rolled in nuts. We also got to go onstage and look at costumes & props. Unfortunately, the one prop I really wanted to see (the flintlock rifle) was spirited away before I could check it out.
Saturday was much more fun. We all went out to see the Star Trek movie and it was great. We did participate in a bit of snark during it (Spock's got Jungle Fever) but it was a really good movie. I didn't like the alternate time line created by the plot but adored the guns, phasers and the katana (want one! want one!).
After the movie, we did a little shopping and then went to the Ghost Hunters meeting and had a great time. We did learn one very important thing that day, though.
There is no "I" in "Go Fuck Yourself".
Sunday was spent recovering and napping then we went to see "Mafia Daughter" at TotS. The show was really very good. It was fun and very well acted. Since it was a world premiere, the script could probably use some punching up a bit but overall it was very good.
After the show, we went to a friend's birthday party and played some games and had a very good time. It was nice to hang out with others and play games. I forgot how much I missed that.
So, that was our very busy weekend. I hope yours was just as wonderful. I will talk to you all again soon.
